2014 Fundraising 募款活動開始了...

親愛的雙語部家長﹕

南科實中雙語部之成立，為提供高科技人才及政府派外人員之子女回國就學，以國際性課程作為教育銜接。學校雙語部逐漸成長，目前也在進行WASC認證的申請作業，以獲得國際教育認證單位的認可，建構一個更好的學習環境。

協助孩子的學習環境更臻理想，是我們成立家長聯誼會的願景。雙語部每年有許多學生活動、社團競賽，教師亦需要進修。但學校預算有限，時常也不能支應此等活動費用。附檔是雙語部提出的經費需求，有四大項﹕學生活動、行政雜費、教師進修(包括實驗室設備耗材等購置)，及G4-G9教室冷氣安裝，共約100萬。期待透過每位家長的認同與付出，讓學校行政及學生活動永續發展。

經過家長會委員代表們的審慎討論，決議向大家募款。調整上述需求為以下四項，您可就願意支持的項目捐助，此次募款的目標為50萬元。目前雙語部共有94家庭，學生142 位。希望每個家庭最少捐助 2,000元，有能力並熱心的家長們能更慷慨解囊。

Dear IBST parents,

IBST was established to provide international education for our children. The school has been growing gradually and is now applying for the WASC accreditation to obtain international recognition.

Each year the IBST has many student extra-curriculum activities, competitions, and especially teacher’s professional development (PD) that the current school budget cannot fully support. The items prepared by the IBST administration and one million in total are shown in the attachment. Therefore, we need your help for our children and retaining good teachers with us. We want to provide our children with various projects and activities to prepare them for rich experience in service learning, competitions, and education of global competence.

After serious discussion, the IBST Booster Club decided to raise fund for the following four items in the table below: students clubs and activities, teacher’s PD, lab materials and supplies, and air conditioners (AC) for classrooms of G4-G9. The AC will provide cleaner and cooler air during the hot season for students and teachers.  In addition, your donation will also help the IBST office to serve you and your children better. The target for this fundraising is NT$500,000. The IBST now has 94 families and 142 students in total. Each family is suggested to donate NT$2,000 at least, and those who are willing to contribute are welcome to donate more.

SunPing Village Spring Trip (扇平山莊春遊記趣)

Dear IBST Parents,

For the Spring Trip of 05/17-18/2014 at SunPing Village, twenty eight families and 93 persons in total joint it, including teachers of Ms. Martina, Dr. Fruit, Dr. Bigler, Mr. Folden and Mr. Taylor.

On the first day, G12 students of Civia and Sylvia shared their experience and tips of applying for colleges. Dr. Bigler and Mr. Folden talked about the college preparation pathway for parents and students from G1 to G12. Besides that, many people enjoyed outdoors, biking around, and splash water in the pool. On the second day, people got up early in the mountains to walk on trails. Then the BBQ lunch by the swimming pool was the highlight of the day.

We know each other more through this event. We would like to thank joining parents, students and teachers, and hope more parents will participate in the activities held by IBST Booster Club in the future.

親愛的雙語部家長們好：

這次IBST家長會於5/17-18舉辦的高雄六龜扇平山莊春遊活動，有28個家庭，93位家長、老師與學生參與。

第一天下午活動重點在升學準備的介紹，G12同學Civia、Sylvia分享大學申請過程經驗，另學校生涯諮商老師Dr. Bigler及Mr. Folden建議各年級家長及學生可著手的事項。

大學申請經驗分享後，大家輕鬆愉快地在腹地寬廣、設施完善的山莊騎腳踏車、游泳、打球，晚上家長們更聚會、聊天、分享…。第二天上午歩道健走，中午於游泳池畔BBQ，之後意猶未盡的踏上歸途…。

經由這次的活動，讓我們老師、家長和學生有更多的互動和認識。家長聯誼會感謝大家的熱情參與，讓此次活動圓滿成功，期待在未來的活動有更多的家長參與。

Money Collecting for Spring Trip Starting....

Dear Parents,

Thanks for registered 5/17-18 Spring Trip and the time is near...
We have 30 families, total  101 people in all will join for this trip for now. (Include 2 families from Hsinchu).
The attached document is all the registered members list and contact information.
We have already book 31 rooms and pay the deposit to Resort.
The Accommodation fee include 2 meal and a tea snack is $ 2000/ 3000 for 2/4 persons room.
For teaches, please hand in half of the fee.
And there is  $250/person for the BBQ next noon will be collect too.(The child under age 6 is free.)We will collect the full amount of fee to guarantee your order.
Please put your money to a envelop and write your name and detail (number BBQ) on, and hand it to Mrs. Kao 高郁晴 who now is sub Chinese teacher at school.

IBST Parent Directory 家長通訊錄建置中

Dear parents: 新竹實中雙語部家長會有個全部家長的通訊錄，在聯絡大家上方便很多，也能增進大家對家長會的連結力。南科實中雙語部家長會也覺得有此需要，準備製作通訊錄，目前已開始收集家長的電話 (email來自學校已有提供)，希望能有大家的電話，使通訊錄齊全，這資料將只用在雙語部家長間的聯絡。敬請回覆您的資料給Lisa ，謝謝。 The PTA of IBSH (our counterpart school at Hsinchu) has a directory of all parents. Dear IBST parents:
The Spring Trip was early planned on 4/19, 20. But the debate competition
was later determined to be held on the same days. Then AP and SAT exams will
be held between 5/5 and 5/16. To have more families to join this Trip, the
Trip dates are changed to 5/17, 18. Please register your attendance by 3/18.
Just let you know that the prices of houses are low with 35% discount.

在擴大家長們的交流，也針對髙年級的升學準備，請家長學生分享經驗，呼應上學期的

Happy Chinese New Year! We are to hold a spring trip to Kaohsiung Liugui 's
Sunping Village. This beautiful by-the-river resort has different facilities
of open field, sports, camping, spa, Karaoke, meeting rooms... for people of
all ages. This trip aims to expand the networks between parents, and address
college preparation for senior students (G8-G12) shared by experienced
parents and students. The agenda is as below. We sincerely invite you

Minutes of 2/8 Second Meeting of the Parent Committee of IBST Booster Club 2/8南科實中雙語部家長聯誼會第二次會議

The agenda of this meeting is as follows:

1.      What was done the last semester

2.      IBSH (竹科實中) visit sharing

3.      Retreat on 4/19&20 and activities

4.      WASC (parent survey, PD…)

5.      Fund raising (for air conditioners in some classrooms)

6.      Newsletter (Google Blog)

7.      Directory of G1~G12 parents

8.      Others

Conclusions:

1.      The service report of IBST Booster Club for the last semester was emailed to members on 2/7 (to all parents on 2/9 after the meeting).

2.      The visit to IBSH was successful and many of their methods can be referenced by us. The visit record is in the service report mentioned above.

3.      The major activity of this semester Spring Trip will be held on 4/19, 20 to expand the networks between parents and address college preparation for senior students (G8~G12) and the parents. Lessors will be given and shared on examinations and college application by experienced students and parents. Professor Tang and Sylvia (student chair) will organize such a meeting and discussion.

4.      WASC needs to do parent survey. Susanne had prepared a questionnaire which was emailed to members for comments. Another WASC thing is parent (or family) profile, which will be prepared by the IBST administration.

5.      The Chinese capability and levels of students as well as the CSL teachers will be discussed with the IBST at the next meeting.

6.      Fund raising will be prepared for such as administration staff or air conditioners in some classrooms. Fund raising will be handled together with the membership fee collection in this semester. Administration subsidy will be discussed with the IBST at the next meeting.

7.      The cost for air conditioners and the playground facility by the G1 classroom can be requested to the Southern Scientific Park Administration.

8.      A directory of parents will be prepared to include emails and phone numbers to facilitate the networking among parents. The parents’ agreement will be solicited.

9.      Secretary Lisa has established a Newsletter for IBST parents (ibstparents) on the Google Blogger, which site will be gradually used for news and communications among parents.

10.  Some money should be spent on hiring a part-time person to help the work of the Club.

11.  $10,000 will be subsidized for this year’s prom. Students of Grade 7 to 12 can attend. The activities such as MUN, soccer, debate, prom, etc. can be subsidized regularly from the next year.

12.  The Booster Club will set up a table at the P/T meeting time on 2/25, to introduce to especially new parents the Club’s activities such as the Spring Trip and offer help to parents who might need it.

The following are discussions conclusions in Chinese.

討論及結論：

1.      聯誼會上學期服務報告已於昨天(2/7) email給各委員(並於2/9 email給全體家長)。

2.      竹科實中拜訪相當有收穫，許多措施值得我們參考，紀錄寫於報告中。

3.      這學期將於4/19、20舉辦春遊，擴大家長間的認識與聯繫，並針對高年級(8~12)學生，分享指導升學準備如考試、申請學校，甚或邀請校友回來，適合家長及學生一起參加。Tracy負責整個活動，聯繫扇平山莊、家長報名等。唐經洲教授連同學生會主席Sylvia，協助組織第一天2~5點會議及8~9點討論。

4.      WASC需要的家長調查(parent survey)，Susanne已準備一問卷，請大家提供意見。Susanne修改後，請林輝堂教授檢查後回Susanne定稿，轉給學校用。關於家長背景(parent profile)、學生入學各種條件，如家長為南科員工或教授、學生母語為何等資料，請雙語部調查(上次與雙語部行政會議討論過)。雙語部師資介紹應再開放。

5.      學生中文程度、CSL教師等問題，下次會議提出與雙語部討論。

6.      募款準備，例如補助職員、冷氣，募款將與下學期會費收取一併作業。補助職員將於下次會議提出與雙語部討論。

7.      冷氣及一年級教室旁設施所需經費，可由全校家長會呂會長及雙語部張會長，會同學校拜訪南科園區，請求編預算補助。

8.      為家長間容易認識、聯繫方便，準備製作全體家長通訊錄，內容將有email及電話，將詢各家長同意。

9.      秘書Lisa 已於Google Blogger建立一網誌Newsletter for IBST parents (ibstparents)，供訊息發布、交流，將告知大家，逐漸使用。

10.  應花錢雇部分時間人員，協助處理本聯誼會工作，否則有人事情太多。

11.  補助今年度高中畢業舞會(7~12年級學生可參加)一萬元。下年度開始，將請雙語部列出重點事項如辯論、足球、MUN等，固定補助。

2月25日星期二下午家長、教師會面，將設置桌位準備點心茶水，介紹尤其是新來家長本聯誼會事務及活動如春遊，及需要協助事項。
